Ericka Evangelista: A Fashion Designer’s Journey
Ericka Evangelista is a dedicated fashion designer based in BGC, Manila, Philippines, specializing in crafting exquisite wedding gowns, evening attire, and bespoke suits. Her journey into the world of fashion began with a humble start; at the age of 16, she launched a small Instagram shop called Labels Manila. After earning a marketing degree, Ericka initially pursued a stable career in business development, where she learned valuable skills in creating yearly growth plans and operational management.
In 2019, Ericka received one of her first custom orders from her boss, igniting her path as a fashion designer. A pivotal moment came when she helped a friend salvage a ruined wedding gown just 30 days before the wedding. This experience marked the beginning of her side hustle while still working in corporate. The success of this gown led to more orders, allowing her to transition into her passion full-time when she formally established the Ericka Evangelista House of Fashion Design in July 2019. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, Ericka adapted by focusing on engaged couples abroad, offering virtual fittings and shipping internationally, which opened up new opportunities for her brand.
Today, the House of Ericka stands as a testament to her creativity and determination, aspiring to inspire young Filipina girls to pursue their dreams in fashion and the arts. With partnerships in Singapore and plans to expand into international markets like Dubai and the UK, Ericka’s journey highlights the belief that following one’s passion can lead to a successful and fulfilling career. Her accolades, including the Top Booker Award for Wedding Attires at the Toast Wedding Fair 2019, Go Negosyo’s Most Inspiring MSME 2024, and the Most Committed to Transform award by iWE Award 2022, further emphasize her commitment to excellence and her vision for the future.
Her favorite book quote, has been her screensaver for years, “I hope you live a life you’re proud of, and if you’re not, I hope you have the courage to start over again.” — F. Scott Fitzgerald
